How We Got Here
Ferndale Opens Its Doors
Brett Boynton — a Ferndale native and lifelong Humboldt local — opened the original Abraxas Shoes on Ferndale's beloved Victorian Main Street. Rooted in the community he grew up in, Brett's vision was straightforward: fit the foot, not just the shoe. Word spread fast, and Abraxas quickly became a fixture on Main Street.
Eureka Flagship Arrives
Demand from across Humboldt County brought Abraxas to the restored Lincoln Building in historic Old Town Eureka. The flagship store now carries the full range of brands and the same hands-on expertise that made Ferndale famous. Still family-run, still locally owned.

What started as one store on a small-town main street has grown into multiple Abraxas locations — all owned and operated by the Boynton family. Same faces, same values, same commitment to Humboldt. Thousands of happy feet later, we're still here fitting our neighbors one pair at a time.

Brett Boynton grew up in Ferndale — the same small Victorian town where he opened Abraxas in 2006. He didn't come from a shoe industry background. He came from this community, and he built something for this community.
All Abraxas locations are run by the Boynton family. That means when you walk in, you're buying from people who are your neighbors — people who care about Humboldt County the way you do. The profits stay local. The decisions are made locally. The faces are familiar.
